“Ellie Edmonds’ watchful Annina leaving particularly strong impressions”

THE STAGE

British Mezzo Soprano Ellie Edmonds trained at Chetham’s School of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire with Christine Cairns, and later with Dennis O’Neill at his school; WIAV. 

Recent Operatic roles include Mercédès Carmen, Annina La Traviata, Un Musico Manon Lescaut, Natalia Zazà (Leoncavallo) Opera Holland Park, Carmen Carmen Kings Head Theatre, Zaïda Il turco in Italia Proper Opera, Ottavia L’incorinazione de Poppea Berlin Opera Academy and Puck Trouser Power (Bradley) ROH.

Ellie has performed various roles for children’s Opera and Theatre, including work with English Touring Opera, OperaEd, Flock Theatre Makers and The Royal Opera House. As a ROH artist; Ellie has collaborated with Engender, Light bulb theatre and Graeae Theatre.

Concert highlights include Tippet’s A Child of our Time (Dartington), Mahler’s Rückert Lieder (Bham Conservatoire) Handel’s The Messiah, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle (OSJ) and Berio’s Folk Songs (Birmingham Sinfonia). 

Ellie participates in regular outreach work including performing for OHP’s Inspire programme, chorus mentoring for Birmingham Opera’s Chorus and volunteers for The Choir with no name, Brighton. Passionate about communication, Ellie is currently working towards becoming a qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
